We're getting married!

Stef told me he loved me for the first time on Cinco de Mayo in 2018 after a night out with friends. And, over the last 6 years, this day has been a small anniversary between us of the moment. Nearly 5 years to the day after that first time, Stef asked me to marry him. On May 6th, Stef drove me out to Great Falls Park in Washington DC. We were visiting on the recommendation of our friend Kerry, or at least that’s what Stef said. We had talked about getting married for a few years prior to this, but over the last year, it had become more of a concrete thing than a musing about our future. And I had no idea everything he had planned when we arrived. There are 3 main viewing areas for the waterfalls at the park. When we were walking around after visiting the first two, Stef insisted we visit the third one as well. I didn’t understand why he wanted to go all the way to the third one when it had the same view as the first two, but I followed him down. When we made it to the platform, we were the only two standing there as everyone else had walked elsewhere. As he stood next to me he asked, “Do you want to come here again next year?” I remember smiling and saying, “Of course, if you want to.” I love the DC area after all. He then said, “What about the year after that?” And I had laughed at him, thinking he must really like the park. “Yeah, we can come again then too.” He then looked at me a little more seriously. “What about the rest of our lives?” I was confused by the question, and I started sobbing before he even managed to get down on one knee with the ring. If that wasn’t enough, he told me to turn around, and I saw my entire family standing there watching us. He had managed to get everyone from Utah to DC to see the proposal. I’ve always been the planner in our relationship, and I always joked with Stef the one thing I wouldn’t plan was my own proposal. The moment was perfect, and not only reaffirmed how deeply he knew me as a person but that he was also capable of pulling off an elaborate plan.
