Met back in senior year of high school at Abraham Lincoln in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Both were looking for a date to the Winter Formal so one of their mutual friends, Andrew Ronk, introduced them to one another. Had an absolute blast dancing the night away and didn't want it to end. They kept in contact and hung out a lot; until the night of April 14, 2011 Nate asked Lauren to be his girlfriend.

That night started out just like any other weekend night for the two of them. Nate took Lauren to one of her favorite restaurants, Cheddar's, where they just talked about their future (Okay yes this should have sparked it for Lauren but it didn't lol). After the meal Nate wanted to walk around by the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, which wasn't unusual because they both loved going there to get fresh air and enjoy the view. Once they got there Nate took Lauren's hand and walked her to the riverfront which was so beautiful under the moonlight. With Downtown Omaha's skyline behind them, Nate got down on one knee and asked Lauren the question she had been wanting to hear for 6 years. It totally caught her off-guard that there may have been a few bad words lol but of course the answer was YES!
