They met in college at a party after Haylee's team annihilated Tom's in a game of Civil War. They casually saw each other around campus and at Greek events every now and then for the next couple of months
After Haylee started texting Tom for a few weeks, she asked Tom to be her date to her sorority's date party. They had the most amazing time, instantly connected, and talked for hours after the party was over. With just two weeks until Haylee's graduation, they hung out almost every day after before deciding to give the long distance thing a go. For four and a half years, they stayed together through thick and thin. With hours between them at any given time, both of them committed to driving to see each other every few weeks. The weekends spent together felt unreal at times, and reality set in quickly when their time together was over. Despite how difficult it was to be a part for so long, they knew that the love they had was special. September 2018 the long distance came to end when they moved to California together after a once-in-a-lifetime cross country trip. Not long after, they got a puppy named Oliver and began their lives as a cute little family.
Haylee and Tom took the train up to Santa Barbara and spent a beautiful weekend there touring the area, wine tasting, and exploring. That day they took a trolley tour around town where they ironically saw so many weddings happening! Turns out, there's a ton of wedding venues there. Tom had a reservation for dinner that night, so they went back to the hotel to change into nicer clothes. The steak dinner they had that night was amazing, complete with drinks and dessert that were delicious too! After dinner, Tom mentioned very casually that he wanted to go the beach to watch the sunset, knowing this is Haylee's absolute favorite time of day. Once there, they walked along the water where Tom nervously stopped and popped the question! Neither of them remembers what he said, but they were both just so over the moon.
