For those of you who do not know our story, it dates back to February '09 on the beautiful island of Aruba. We were both on family vacations at an all inclusive resort. I remember the first time seeing Kimberly, and being completely blown away by her beauty and smile. I immediately envisioned a future with her and would perseverate on that thought. Just as instantly, however, the wind was blown out of my sails as I overheard Kimberly and her sister ordering food in perfect Spanish. I knew when I returned home, my buddies would ask how the trip went. And every time she walked by, I dreaded having to tell my friends “I saw the most beautiful girl in the world, but she didn’t speak a lick of English!” I was, as they say, dead in the water. That was until 2 days later. The resort was offering a wind sailing class, which I was able to convince my cousin Adam to attend with me since I had spotted Kimberly there earlier. Man, am I glad I did that! At first, I wondered why I decided to torture myself as I listened to her translate the instructions to her mom, but then it hit me. How could she be translating the directions into Spanish if she didn’t know English!? Later that day, I jumped at the opportunity to officially meet. Adam agreed to be my wingman and set up a game of billiards. Over the ensuing years, Kimberly made frequent visits to West Hartford and then Princeton. We were fortunate to spend summers together on Princeton’s campus while I was training for the upcoming football season. During the time we spent together inside the Orange Bubble, our infatuation gradually developed into a pure and honest love. Following graduation, I moved to NYC. Just 2 years later, our dream came true and we were finally able to be together full time when Kimberly was accepted into Columbia University. After 4 years in NYC together, we decided to move back to West Hartford. We couldn't be more excited about the next chapter of our lives and sharing our special day with you!
