During each of our junior years of high school, both Dylan and I decided to become exchange students in Denmark through our Rotary Clubs. We met about half-way through our exchange at a Halloween party thrown by the Rotary Club of Denmark, and immediately hit it off.

It was another six months until we got the chance to see each other again due to the fact that we lived in opposite parts of the country. Towards the end of our exchange, we embarked on a three week bus tour organized by Rotary, and right off the bat we were nearly inseparable. It was on this trip that our relationship was cemented together with our love of travel.

Since our year abroad in Denmark, we've traveled to over 10 countries across 3 continents, and have lived long term in 3 of them. Most recently, we called Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand home for over 9 months. Dylan and I had gathered our friends together to celebrate Dylan's birthday at a local restaurant. As the party started to come to an end, Dylan got up, my guess, to thank everyone for coming and celebrating his birthday. I was confused as to why he was so incredibly nervous. He spoke to strangers for a job, and shouldn't be so uncomfortable addressing some of our closest friends. Then he turned to me and it clicked what was happening, and of course the answer was 'yes'!
