is a gentle 3-mile hike through meadows of wildflowers, with great viewpoints along the Pacific Crest Trail. It is 20 miles/45 minutes from Crystal, follow highway 410 south to where it crosses the crest of the Cascade Mountains.
For a close look at Mount Rainier and short loop hikes, visit the Sunrise Visitor’s Center in Mount Rainier National Park. It is 29 miles/1 hour 9 minutes from Crystal, south on Hwy 410 and then up the winding Sunrise Park Road to 6400’ elevation.
The most iconic place to visit Mount Rainier is at the Paradise Visitors Center. The alpine flowers are spectacular in late summer. From Crystal, take Hwy 410 south to Hwy 123.
Consider bringing your gear and camping in the Mount Rainier National Park. Campsites cost $20 per night. There may be spaces at the White River or Ohanepecosh Campgrounds
If you enter the National Park, you can pay for a $30 pass per vehicle that is good for 7 days. It is a great investment since your are so close to this beautiful park. There are hikes of every level and the trails are open to everybody for daytrips. Roads and parking lots get busy, so start your excursion early.
