We met during our sophomore year at Clemson University. We clicked right from the beginning, sharing our love of dogs and the wu tang clan, as well as both being from Virginia. Although we moved a world apart after graduation (Lydia in South Korea. Willson in Virginia), we worked hard to stay together because we knew we had something special. After many trips and a few moves, we have finally made a home together in Charlotte, North Carolina with our dog Wylie.
This June, Willson joined the Ciavarellas on their third decennial trip to Hawaii. Lydia insisted they go to one of her favorite spots on the island: The Mauna Kea Observatory. Knowing how special this place was to Lydia (and one of the best places in the world to view the stars), Willson knew this was it. Upon arrival to the observatory, Willson asked Lydia and her little sister Frankie if they wanted to go on a hike to one of the peaks before sunset. Once they reached the summit, Lydia and Willson posed for a picture, and that is when he asked. They got to celebrate with Lydia's sister and parents by doing two of their favorite things: drinking wine and watching the stars.
