If you’d have told either of us during the days leading up to our first date that the person we were about to meet would be the person we'd marry, I think we would’ve called you crazy. Not because there wasn't interest, but because at the time we were living on opposite coasts (Jacob was in Cocoa Beach, FL and Ashley was in Los Angeles, CA). There weren't a lot of expectations for what the future would bring that first date, but we often credit this as one of the reasons it went so well. We simply made the most of that night and focused on making a connection. We both remember thinking about how hard it was to say goodbye to one another not knowing when or if we would see each other again. Our next opportunity came a couple months later during another one of Jacob's work trips. While Jacob was interviewing for a new position in LA, Ashley was doing her best to persuade him to move by sharing all her favorite places (she was very convincing). Not long after, the move was official and we both lived in LA, finally getting a chance to be together. We will always remember the day that both of us took a chance on a stranger living on the other side of the country, and ended up finding love.
