Will and I met a day after he first reached out. My brother in law (Beto) gave him my number. During the text exchange we decided to go on a first day on Friday June 3rd. He was going to take me to see a the Rangers baseball game. The next day at work we both had rough days and both agreed (in true Ana fashion) that a beer sounded real good after a long day. So we decided to move up our meet up day. We met at Big Apple Cafe at 6:00 pm. It was a rainy day and as Will pulls up to the spot I realize I left my wallet in my trunk. So I ask Will to turn around ( I have a mess in my trunk) to dig out my wallet. Side note: ask Will about this day his rendition of how I asked him to look away is way better. Finally make our way into the restaurant and order our drinks. Three beers later and one awkward couple asking if it was the first time we met and how we shouldn't do online dating even though it worked for them and they were married, it's now 9:00 pm. Will and I talked for three hours straight and it was easy. I'd never had that happened to me. For the first time I was having a great time with a total stranger and I didn't care to leave. It was the start to something great!
On what seems to be a yearly beach summer trip since meeting Ana this one would be one for the books. If you know Ana, she loves the beach and sun! This trip being a bit more special with my sisters and their husbands I had planned on proposing. Let’s take it back to two years ago as Ana went on a girl’s trip to celebrate her 30th birthday (yes, she is fine with her age being out here) I got an invite to crash. We had been together for about a month and I found my way out there on the first flight. The last night on this trip we found ourselves walking along the beach at night which was something we both really enjoyed. Now, back to the proposal. As I planned with Jenna I knew that I would want to recreate that night. The night of July 5th after dinner Jenna and I distracted Ana back to the hotel lobby with the excuse that we needed to print our tickets for our early excursion. As we made our way to the lobby the rest of the crew made their way to the beach. Steph, Chris and Chad (backpack in tow) went out to the beach shore to turn on over 100 candles and spell out ‘will you marry me?’ Now I had to think of a way to separate Ana and I from Jenna. As we walked towards the beach I made a comment about walking along the shoreline while Jenna hung back towards the edge of the beach. As we made our way along the shoreline you could see a faint glow from the candles which peaked Ana's interest. She made a comment about the candles thinking it might be some sort of local ritual and wanted to go check it out. As she marched towards the candles I slowly walked behind her as I took out the ring. When she finally read what the candles said I quickly got down on one knee and waited for her to turn around. It took her what felt like a couple of minutes before she finally turned around and before I could say anything with tears in her eyes she said yes and jumped into my arms! Special thanks to Jenna, Steph, Chad and Chris for making this a night to remember.
