While Burbank (BUR) is closer and more convenient, it is a very small airport. Los Angeles (LAX) often has more reasonably priced flights and more of them. At either destination, it is likely that you'll wish to rent a car to get around. However, if you choose not to do so, it is more affordable and less stressful to take a FlyAway shuttle from LAX to the Van Nuys airport. Tickets are $9.75 one-way and can be purchased via their website ahead of time or mobile payment once aboard. Then, it's a short rideshare from Van Nuys to your hotel or Airbnb. If you fly into BUR, you can also easily use a rideshare to get around if you prefer not to rent a car.
