One of the special perks of celebrating at the Mint Museum is that our wedding guests will receive free admission to the museum on Saturday, September 27th. Just let them know you are with the O'Connor/Volkmann wedding at the check in counter. The museum opens at 11 a.m., so you might enjoy a visit after breakfast—or consider arriving a little early to explore before the festivities begin. Doors to the ceremony open at 4:30 p.m., and the celebration will start promptly at 5 p.m. As an added treat, the Mint Museum Uptown is currently showcasing masterpieces by Edgar Degas, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Alma Thomas. These works, on loan from the National Gallery of Art’s renowned collection, are part of the Across the Nation program—a special initiative bringing iconic art to communities across the country in honor of the United States’ upcoming 250th anniversary in 2026.
A pedestrian and bicycle route that runs parallel to Charlotte's LYNX Blue Line light rail. Good for a morning jog (or run for our Laf XC guests), bike/scooter ride, or just to walk around site seeing and stopping here and there for a bite to eat, shops, etc. If you are staying at the Grand Bohemian, you can walk towards the Third Street/Convention Center stop and then continue in the direction of South End (see the map on the website linked).
A market near the hotels in Uptown with a deli for breakfast + lunch sandwiches, beer, wine, etc.
