It was our third day at Walt Disney World, and we woke up not feeling so great (the day before we did a little drinking around the world at Epcot, to be honest!). Nicholas was feeling really bad. He woke up with a really bad headache and tummy ache, so we took the morning real slow. We went to go get some breakfast and a Coca-Cola to try and help him feel better. When we got to Magic Kingdom, we rode a few of the slower rides because Nicholas still wasn’t feeling all that great. We were meeting a family friend there because it was her first time at Disney and I wanted her to go on a couple of my favorites while Nicholas rested. First, Carousel of Progress(which is slept on in my opinion) and then my other absolute favorite, Haunted Mansion. At this point, I was getting really worried about Nicholas because he was barely talking and I could just tell he was not feeling well at all. We got to Haunted Mansion and while in line, I kept going on and on about how much I love this ride, how I want a tattoo of the ride, and giving them all the fun facts that I knew. I was being a bit of a Disney nerd, I know. We get on the ride and I tell Nicholas let’s do a funny ride photo, and he tells me to tell him when, but he is so in his head that he completely misses it. Throughout the ride I keep asking him if he is okay and if he wants to get a snack or even if he wants to go back to the room to take a little nap. We get off the ride and usually we take photos in front of the mansion with a photo pass photographer, but I tell him let’s not worry about it, that we can get one later. However, he was very adamant about getting the photo because he knows how much I love this ride. So I turn to Cassie, the family friend, and her girlfriend to ask them if they want to take a photo too and they agreed. While we were waiting for the photos, Cassie makes a big fuss about standing in the sun and it being too hot. She wanted to go stand in the shade, which happened to be near the photographer. Caty, her girlfriend, follows her, saying something about not having reapplied sunscreen. It is now our turn to take photos, and while we are trying to pose, I think Cassie and Caty are going to join us any second. The photographer moves away, but Nicholas asks if we can do one more. I am thinking, “How sweet. He didn’t forget to get one with Cassie and Caty.” I turn to look at him and he is no longer eye level. The man of my dreams, love of my life, and my absolute best friend is down on his knee and asking me to marry him!! We were both shaking and crying, and I am so impressed I did not pass out! It was the most wonderful moment in my life and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Oh , and sure enough, Nicholas started to feel a lot better after that! -Danielle (soon to be Ruark!)
