As per usual our Saturday date day was a surprise! He woke me up early to catch the sunrise at Miso Mountain. We stumbled up the mountain as I groggily was waking up, the sun was peaking its head up. Willis shared he wanted to read me a poem he'd written for me, "how sweet is he" I thought. He began reading me the poem, I could see his eyes tearing up, his words were clear and soft; it pulled me in entirely. I looked down at his paper, written at the bottom were those four words with my name. Complete shock overtook me and all I could focus on was his face. His expressions and nervous smile when he dropped to one knee and pulled out the ring. Anyone that knows me, knows I'm a cryer; immediately my hands went to my face in shock, taking in the serenity of the moment. I felt so much joy in saying yes! As we hugged all I could think was, "Thank You God" with so much relief and gratitude to The Lord, My Lord who made that moment. I knew God was sharing that it was our time now.
I love doing everything last minute but actually put some thought into this one. Behind her house, there is a hill that we often hike. Last year on that same hill I asked her to be my girlfriend. This year, on that same hill, I asked her to marry me. In early April I nervously made the trip to her house to wake her up. It wasn't a surprise to her, as it was already planned to start the day with a hike. Hiking up we had mini small talks on what our day was going to be. Upon reaching the top and taking in the view, I took out a poem and began to read. "Natalie Marie Young, will you marry me?". After getting on one knee, she said yes through her tears - captured by our secret photographer. Taking a few minutes to just smile and take in the moment, we made the trek down the hill. A surprise to her, not as big as the first one, we had all our friends at the house with breakfast made for us.
