Champagne, fireworks, and a fiancé!
Like many modern love stories, ours began on Hinge — though neither of us expected just how quickly one simple coffee date would change everything. We met on August 26, 2024, at Easy Tiger on South Lamar in Austin. Rebecca arrived a few minutes late (which will surprise absolutely no one who knows her), wearing a matching blue workout set and squeezing in the date before a dentist appointment. Robert, meanwhile, arrived looking polished enough for a GQ photoshoot — pressed slacks, perfectly styled hair (obviously), and very clearly taking this coffee meeting a bit more seriously. From the moment we sat down, the conversation flowed effortlessly. What was supposed to be a quick coffee turned into an instant connection filled with nervous excitement, easy laughter, and the kind of comfort that feels rare from the very beginning. And then came the goodbye. As Robert leaned in for a hug, our sunglasses somehow collided instead — creating what can only be described as our first awkwardly adorable moment together. Naturally, we both walked away pretending to be cool while immediately calling friends and family to say some version of: “I think this might actually be something.” The truth is, we met at a time when both of us had lived enough life to know what truly matters. We had each experienced heartbreak, growth, healing, and the quiet work of becoming our best selves. What we found in each other felt easy, genuine, and unexpectedly certain. Little did we know that one casual coffee date was only the beginning of our story.
