One day, while working at Outside the Box Shipping, two customers came into the store, and stood side-by-side, waiting to be helped. After the first customer said she needed a box, I (William) asked her what size box she needed. She then looked over at the person next to her (Asya), and looked her up and down, as if to use her as a reference for the size of the box. Asya and I looked at each other, and exchanged a confused smile and chuckle. Once the customer left, Asya and I laughed and made jokes about the situation, where we decided Asya's name to be "Box," which I proceeded to call her as if it were her actual name for the rest of the time I worked there. Also, I didn't know her actual name, so "Box" worked. As I was preparing to leave Outside the Box Shipping to start my career as a teacher, she happened to come into the store during my last week. I told her I was leaving, and she proceeded to write her name down on a piece of paper and told me to look for her on social media, which I did. We became "Facebook" friends, interacting with each other's posts without ever really talking to each other. Until my friend Terrence and I came up with "The Plan." Even though we never really spoke, I knew I was attracted to Asya, thought she was fun to chat with at the store, and could tell we shared a similar sense of humor from her Facebook posts. One day, while talking to Terrence about our dating lives (or in my case, a lack of one), and Asya came up. I told him that I didn't know how to open a dialogue with her to pursue anything. We came up with the plan that I would interact with more of her posts and then parlay that into a conversation in Messenger, which would then provide me an avenue to ask her out. I worked to institute the plan immediately. Shortly thereafter, I had to go to Outside the Box Shipping to pick up a package I had shipped there. While talking to George, the UPS driver, I saw her walking by with her son, Max. I decided right then and there that I would make my move. Except, I didn't. I didn't want to yell "Box!" across the street like a crazy person. But that night, once I got home, I messaged her. We chatted for a bit and I asked her out on a date. Much to surprise, she agreed. We went out on our first date that Friday, both coincidentally wearing burgundy, and quickly felt a connection. It didn't take long for us to fall for each other and see in each other what we've always been looking for. In fact, I was on one knee asking her to marry me within four months of being together. Now, here we are, diving head-first into starting a new life together, and we couldn't be happier.
