Question

What can I do in Newark? What can I do in Newark?

Answer

Newark is home to the University of Delaware, where we both work. We recommend taking a walk around our beautiful campus. Whether you stay on Main Street or close by, we also recommend visiting Main Street, where you will find many restaurants, bars, and shops. Some of our favorite places to get food on Main Street are Deer Park Tavern, Roots, and Klondike Kate's. Just remember spring semester will be in session, so you'll see lots of college students!

Answer

Delaware is a perfect place for you to make our wedding a longer getaway. We are an easy jumping-off point for beaches, cities, and charming small towns. Beaches: Delaware’s beaches (Rehoboth, Bethany, Lewes) are about 1.5–2 hours by car—perfect for a relaxing coastal add-on. Maryland’s Ocean City and the Jersey Shore are also within easy reach. By train: Newark sits on the Amtrak and SEPTA line, making car-free travel simple. - Philadelphia: ~45 minutes - Baltimore: ~1–1¼ hours - Washington, DC: ~1½–2 hours - New York City: ~1½–2 hours By car: Historic towns, scenic countryside, and great food are everywhere—think Chesapeake Bay seafood, Brandywine Valley gardens and museums, Longwood Gardens, and charming downtowns throughout Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Whether you’re craving a beach weekend, world-class museums, or iconic East Coast cities, it’s all close enough to mix and match. We hope you can explore a bit while you’re here!
