We live in Mount Shasta, just an hour south of Ashland. We highly encourage you to take an extra day to visit the mountain for hiking the dormant volcano; swimming in alpine lakes; mountain biking extraordinary, beginner to advanced trails (bike rentals at The Fifth Season in town); meditating at energy vortexes and Lumerian Portals (if you're into the mystic arts); and exploring so much more this amazing natural beauty has to offer!
We are so lucky to live so close to the Redwoods! Driving from Ashland to the first area of redwoods (Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park) takes around 2.5 hours. From there you can continue to the ocean in Crescent City, and a little further is Prairie Creek redwoods area, which has some truly magical hiking trails. The forest is alive, and everyone can feel the ancient magic here!
A 2hr drive north through stunning forest and easy mountain terrain you will find the 183,224 acre Crater Lake National Park. Most notable for containing one of the clearest lakes in the world, and THE deepest lake in the United States at almost 2000ft deep! Definitely worth a visit, and if you have another free day, go to the Redwoods next for two unfathomably beautiful day trips while you're in town for our wedding.
This 100% natural, hole-in-the-ground hot spring is such a gorgeous place to soak and unwind! It's located 2hrs 20min north from Ashland and a short hike into the forest from the parking lot. There are several naturally formed hot spring pools you can soak in, as well as having the option to climb down for a cold plunge in the river! Note: clothing optional!
