Welcome to Our Wedding Website

Welcome to our wedding website! Time is ticking away. Here you will find an overview of the weekend including a wedding day itinerary, dinner menu, and other useful information. Once again, we sincerely thank you for choosing to join us on the biggest day of our lives together thus far.

How We Met

August 10, 2019

From Katie: We met at an Upper Keys Rotary dinner party where a very good friend of mine was being sworn in as a board member. While Bill was in the dessert line hamming it up with the other party guests, I overheard someone make a joke about this being his second trip to the dessert table, which is something I would definitely do. I admired his larger-than-life presence and was also wondering who this loud and boisterous person could be. Later on during the dinner, my former boss said “This is Bill Doxey. You two should hang out.” I gave him my card and the rest is history.

Coming Out Party

January 2020

We made our first appearance as a couple at the 2020 Bougainvillea Ball, a charity event which we called our “coming out party.” It was our silly idea of using the ball to our advantage, and we laughed because while we knew a lot of the same people, said people did not know we were together, but when they saw us together it was kind of like it clicked for them. It made sense to everyone, especially us. That night he said "I love you Katie."

Challenges Overcome

Our relationship began seven months prior to the pandemic. It goes without saying it was a confusing and uncertain time for everyone, but we seemed to grow stronger because of it. We spent weekends together and our newfound lack of a social calendar meant that we could travel to and from each other’s places at odd times like in the middle of the week. We became tired of saying goodbye on the weekends and moved in together in October 2020.

The Proposal

03-05-2023

From Katie: My parents helped me move to the Keys in 2016, and in the week they spent helping me we went to Bahia Honda State Park. I would go there pretty much every weekend thereafter, and like anyone who has ever moved to a new place alone, it took a long time to settle in. I went to the beach and spent many hours there snorkeling and reading. Over the last seven y ears I have continued going there because it is such a therapeutic place for me. It is my favorite place in the world, and so of course it is where Bill chose to propose. We walked up onto the old rail bridge to watch the sunset, and he got down on one knee. I said "Are you serious?!" which we joke about a lot now. As is typical in the Keys, someone usually blows a conch shell at sunset. The conch shell blower was so choked up by the proposal he couldn't blow in the conch. Bahia Honda is now an even more special place for our family to visit, and when Bill and I go there together I sit in the same places I always did and think a lot about how things came full circle.
