We LOVE the National Park, it is the entire purpose of our wedding being in Tennessee! If you don’t like to hike that’s OK. Smoky Mountain NP is great to drive around. So you can stay in your vehicle and explore. You can take Newfound Gap Road across the park to NC, stop at Clingmans Dome rest area, or just enjoy the views along the ride. Another spot for the, stay-in-the-car explorer, is Cades Cove, a drivable loop with historical buildings which is south of Gatlinburg near Townsend. If you are looking for an easy trail, Gatlinburg trail is a nice leisure walk along the riverside. You can hike from downtown Gatlinburg to the Sugarlands Visitor Center if you choose! Moderate trails include Rainbow Falls Trail (5.1 mi) and Clingmans Dome Observation Tower (1.3 mi) Hard hikes are Chimney Tops, a 3.6 mi out and back with steep terrain. And our favorite hike is a hard, 13 mi trail, with incredible views, the Mount LeConte via Alum Cave Trail.
Don’t ask me why, but we always end up here for a margarita!
