We definitely suggest checking out what Doylestown has to offer while in the area! It has been ranked the second "most walkable town" in PA, and recognized by USA Today as having America's "best small-town cultural scene". The area has even been called out as one of America's "Distinctive Destinations" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. DOWNTOWN DINING/BARS WE RECOMMEND: Station Tap House The Side Bar in the Marketplace Hops/Scotch 86 West The Hattery Stove & Still
A historic and absolutely charming little village that's right out of a storybook. There's 60+ unique shops and boutiques, and several dining options (Buttonwood Grill, Earl's New American, Cock 'n Bull Restaurant, Hart's Tavern, Peddler's Pub). Nina's Waffles & Ice Cream is a MUST if you go. Trusttttt us. It's about a 15 min drive to Peddler's but so worth it.
Built between 1908 and 1912 by Henry Chapman Mercer without blueprints, the 19,000 sq. ft. castle was modeled after a 13th-century Rhenish castle, with 44 rooms, 10 bathrooms, and 200+ windows. The building is distinctive for being one of the first ever constructed using reinforced poured-in-place concrete. Its eclectic mix of Medieval, Gothic, and Byzantine architectural styles gives it a unique “fairytale castle” vibe.
