Annamarie and Will first met at SIU when Annamarie sat in front of Will the first day of a freshman-level Chemistry class. Although they (Annamarie) worked on projects together and took many of the same classes, they did not become close until they were re-introduced by mutual friend Justin Mullen at one of Will's infamous parties. Annamarie knew Will was interested when he poured her a drink in his special "Kam's mug," and Will thought the same when Annamarie added him on Facebook. Both dispute the significance of these events, just as they dispute whether Annamarie really wanted to leave/be walked home by Will once it started raining at Pinch Penny Pub that same evening. Regardless, the two soon began talking every day, studying together, and watching Pretty Little Liars at Will's apartment. One evening after being invited to Annamarie's to study, Will brought over dinner he had cooked for them both, which Annamarie promptly placed in the fridge and thanked Will for cooking her meals for the week. Will went home and had to face his roommates who made fun of him for having to cook himself dinner again. They did not go on an official first date for many weeks, but Will went and saw Annamarie's sorority perform in Greek Sing, and Annamarie ignored Will when she sat behind him at an SIU football game. The two finally went on a date where Will watched a particularly interesting University of Illinois football game during dinner. At this point, Annamarie & Will were together most days. After some time of this, the two were finally asked, "what's going on, are you two dating?" Will saved the situation by saying they had not talked about it yet. A few days later, Will asked Annamarie if she would be his girlfriend. She said yes.
