Thank You, Bumble

January 20, 2018

A Bride-to-BEE’s Tale… I recall that frigid night of ‘swiping’ more left than right on my dating app, “Bumble.” I was finally matched to a good-looking man with a wicked grin. He had a boyish yet a professional look. His profile images were a bit intimidating; decked out in a military uniform, “best-dressed” suit, and a casual preppy look. I was looking to meet someone within a 10-mile radius that was between the ages of 28-35 and enjoyed my curiosities. Since I was a 43-year-old woman, and a proud parent of a 9 year old daughter, who has happened to have been blessed with great skin mind you (I don't think I look a day older than 25), I could not help but wonder how old this handsome young man was! Once I knew there was a connection, our dialogue was kept pretty simple- well, he kept it on the light and simpler side, and I was the talker (shocker!). He would answer me with one word answers. Was this a sign? I then figured the way to get him to talk more was on video chat, where he proceeded to fall asleep on me a few times- perhaps another sign? With a little time, and patience, I found the source of his fatigue was not my talkative nature, but the fact that not only was he in the military but also a police officer. Impressive and nice to know! We decided it was time that we should meet. We placed our bets for the Superbowl and agreed the loser would have to drive the other home for a romantic dinner. I may have lost the initial bet, but I won my perfect gentleman…

The Proposal

December 24, 2019

(Time “BUZZES” by…) Billy & Ryana Skyler spent time at the mall getting last-minute Christmas gifts, and that was where he asked for Ryana Skyler's blessing to have my hand in marriage. Playfully, Ryana said, "No", but soon after officially agreed and the two together went to pick out my ring. “The Proposal” It was Christmas Eve, one of the busiest holidays at Trattoria Vivolo, where I have been working as a bartender/server/manager for the past 15 years, during my professional career. The staff were busier than BEES IN A HIVE and didn't have much time to eat or drink, let alone check in with their families. Once we slowed down, I was able to contact my HONEY, Billy. I was burnt out, hungry, cranky, and I smelled like chicken parmigiana- truly a hot mess. Billy offered to come to the restaurant, I agreed. As Billy walked in, I remembered ranting about something, he tried to show me affection and I just pushed him away, repeating that I just needed to complete my side work so I can go home and eat and shower and hit the hay. But, Billy clutched on to my arm and wouldn't let me go. He dropped down to one knee and he popped the question, “Will You Marry Me?" in front of my closest childhood friends.
