After sorting through the many online dating profiles and many bad dates John and Beckie found each other on POF dating site and talked for 3 years before they went on their first date. John had asked Beckie on several dates before this time and Beckie stood him up multiple times. The first date was at Sickies in Rapid City enjoying a beer after which John insisted they go out the very next night and thanks to a few coworkers Beckie happily accepted. There have been many dates and many events since then, but they still have to laugh about the time it took them to finally meet.
The proposal happened September 10th at the Alpine restaurant in Hill City. John took Beckie out to dinner at the Alpine which is their favorite special even spot. After making it through dinner they went out to the front porch which is a beautiful wood wrap around where they could be alone. After pretending to fumble with his keys he requested that even though it was her birthday he would like a gift. The proposal was simple and sweet and proved John knew Beckie because he got a special ring box that she wouldn't notice in his pocket. Of course Beckie cried and forgot to take pictures but it couldn't have been more perfect.
October 10, 2020 was chosen the same week they got engaged. Beckie wanted an entire year to plan and both their birthdays are in September. It happened to also be Beckie's Great Grandmothers birthday which of course sold her. After the date was chosen it was hard to get it out of their heads, however wedding planning which such a neat date is quite a task. After visiting and touring a million venues, most which the date was unavailable, the final choice of venues were made and they are so excited to share it with everyone.
