FAQs

We've included a list of FAQs around Mexico and our wedding weekend below. Please reach out to Dan if you have any further questions.
Question

When should I book my flight and hotel?

Answer

Ideally, as soon as possible! January is high season in Mexico, so booking in advance is recommended.

Question

Is there a hotel block or group rate?

Answer

Because we are offering flexibility in timing and lodging, we do not have a hotel block or group rate. We encourage you to find the lodging that works best for you and your trip!

Question

Can I stay somewhere else if the hotel/resort is out of my budget?

Answer

In Playa del Carmen, absolutlely! PDC has a range of accommodations - from boutique hotels to AirBnbs. Just make sure you're close enough to join the festivities easily. Cancun is a bit more complicated. Dreams Natura is an all-inclusive resort and only allows resort guests on the property. If you are planning to extend your trip and join us in Cancun for the week, we highly recommend you book your stay at the resort.

Question

What expenses should I expect?

Answer

Guests will cover transportation, lodging, and expenses outside of Sunday's ceremony and celebration. If you are joining us at Dreams Natura, your meals and drinks are included as part of their all-inclusive package.

Question

Do I need a passport or visa?

Answer

U.S. citizens need a valid passport but no visa for short stays to Mexico. If you need a passport, we recommend you expedite to ensure it arrives on time.

Question

January in Playa del Carmen is one of the best times to visit! Here's what you can expect: Average High: Around 81°F Average Low: About 68°F Humidity: Lower than summer months, making it more comfortable Rainfall: Minimal—January falls in the dry season Sunshine: About 7–8 hours per day Sea Temperature: Around 78.8°F, perfect for swimming

Question

Answer

Lightweight, breathable clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, bug spray, and outfits for wedding weekend events and ceremony/celebration. Don't forget comfy shoes for excursions.

Question

What is the dress code for the ceremony and celebration?

Answer

Sundressed and Breezy: Light linens, flowy dresses, and button downs. Dress to celebrate - beachy and comfortably chic!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by November 1, 2025.

Question

Are there other events besides the ceremony?

Answer

Please see the Schedule page for details on our weekend events!

Question

Should I bring a gift?

Answer

Gifts are not expected and are difficult to get back home. Our biggest gift is the ability to celebrate our marriage with those we love! If you are inclined to give a gift, we have a Honeymoon Fund on our Registry page.

Question

Should I exchange currency?

Answer

U.S. dollars are widely accepted in Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, and Cancun, but having some pesos on hand for tips or local shops is helpful.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes!

Question

I’m planning to stay at Dreams Natura for the whole trip, will there be shuttles to the wedding?

Answer

If we have a large number of guests staying at Dreams Natura over the weekend, we will likely schedule shuttle transportation. Please let us know if this is your plan so we can get an accurate headcount for shuttle service.

Question

I am checking out of The Fives Downtown on Sunday. Where can I store my bags after checkout during the ceremony and celebration?

Answer

The concierge is happy to keep your bags during the ceremony and reception on Sunday. In addition, we have a courtesy room through Monday, so guests can store bags and/or change clothing after Sunday checkout.
