Tiffany and Will met the way that many people do in the modern era of dating: the internet! After a few days of chatting back and forth, they met in person at their favorite bookstore in Phoenix called Changing Hands. It was the first of several dates that eventually led to the important step of gaining the approval of each of our dogs, Soka and Willow.
Tiffany knew when she invited Will to a Flower Crown workshop at The Bodega in Phoenix. Even though flowers were not his passion, he went with her and they made beautiful flower crowns together, even wearing them for the remainder of the day. Little things like this make Tiffany feel so loved and cherished to this day. Will is adamant that he knew from the first date at Changing Hands. Tiffany’s calming demeanor was a compliment to his sometimes hectic mindset. Not having to put on airs to be around each other, enjoying a meal together and making each other laugh. When the simple things become a joy, then you know you’re with the right person. His favorite trip as a couple is their first visit to Flagstaff during the winter, visiting the downtown area and surrounding parks, and getting into snowball fights as the responsible adults that they are.
In 2023, they decided to be close to Will’s hometown of Greensboro, NC and moved out of their Phoenix apartment. After purchasing their new home, they proceeded to drive for the next 3 days from Phoenix to North Carolina, with two very patient dogs along for the ride. Despite major storms across Texas, they safely arrived at the new home in Greensboro. While they may be building a wonderful life in the Tar Heel State, they are forever grateful for finding each other and spending their first years together in Arizona.
To celebrate the new year, they rented an AirBnb just outside of Asheville along with their friends Sarah and Victor Mendoza. Tiff and Will visited the Biltmore Estate, toured the gardens, and drove back to the cabin once it got dark. While they were gone, Sarah and Victor were hard at work decorating the living room and putting up a banner Will had made that read “Tiffany, will you marry me?” Once Tiffany had entered the cabin after keeping her eyes closed, Will got on one knee and proposed to her. What he didn’t plan for was both Soka and Willow tackling him mid-proposal. In retrospect, this was a very fitting manner for the couple to have become engaged.
Soka and Willow are two very different dogs who complement each other well. Willow is a fighter, very brave and always ready to play with you. Soka is…not brave, but she is incredibly affectionate and is always down for pets and cuddles. They are both rescues, with Soka having come from New Mexico and Willow being from Arizona. Even though they have very different personalities, they are virtually inseparable from each other, and love to take up a lot of space on the bed when their parents are trying to sleep. But we love our dog-ters and the family unit that we have created among the four of us.
