Question

**Reminder to check that your passport hasn't expired!**

Answer

Don't pull a Will! :)

Question

Do I need a car?

Answer

While a car isn’t strictly necessary – local taxis are available –having your own wheels can make things a lot easier. If you are planning to rely on transportation via taxi, we recommend having a transportation plan and even calling taxis ahead of time to pre-book pickups when possible. *Ubers & Lyft are not licensed to operate in the county of Somerset. If you’re comfortable driving in the UK (remember, they drive on the left!) and want to explore the area, a car opens up so many options. There are gorgeous manor houses (museums), cozy country pubs, and scenic hikes all around Somerset, and most are best reached by car. More information on car rental and other transportation options is available via our "Getting Around & Lodging Recommendations" guide: 👉 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lyY02j85CQ6g-iuSkp8k9t1G5KuGLpnnZvSSwJkqUI8/edit?usp=sharing

Question

Taxi Details

Answer

Getting around by taxi is the easiest form of transport if you don’t have a car. Ubers and Lyfts are NOT available. If you’re staying at a hotel, the front desk can help you order a taxi. You can also contact local taxi firms directly by phone if you have a UK sim card or international phone plan. UK E-Sim cards can be easily purchased online and will provide you a UK phone number. We’ve used Coleman Taxis, a local firm which does cars and people carriers (up to 16). Owner’s contact information: Jamie Coleman at +44 01935 706706. Other local taxi numbers include: Paul’s Private Hire (no relation to the father of the bride): +44 07394 855 985 Hinton Cars: +44 07554 477 617 Freeway Taxis: +44 07725 082 176 Crewkerne Taxis: +44 01460 75088 Wright Price Taxis: +44 07434 784 258 Kingsbury Taxis: +44 01935 827 799 C R Private Hire: +44 07955 215 444 Radio Cabs: +44 01935 426 666 A2Z Taxis Martock: +44 07484 098 722 00Carbs: +44 01935 313 658 Yeovil Taxi Cabs: +44 01935 313 658 Yeovil Cabs: +44 7721 575222 Greenway Travel: +44 01935 357 777

Question

What do I need to travel to England?

Answer

While travelers from the US and the EU do not need a visa, you will need to apply online for a UK Electronic Travel Authorization (UK ETA). This is a new requirement and you will not be able to enter the UK without it! It costs ~$20 per person to apply online or through the UK ETA app. Once you apply, you will receive the ETA by email usually within a day and it is valid for up to 2 years. You can apply for an ETA and find more information on the UK Government website: https://www.gov.uk/eta/apply

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The dress code for the welcome party is semi-formal, meaning nice dresses or dressy top & bottoms for women and a nice top / jacket / sports coat with nice pants for men. For the wedding day, the dress code is formal, inspired by British spring (please, no tuxedos or fascinators). Formal dresses are longer, often maxi to floor-length, and men typically wear tailored suits. The British spring inspiration is just an invitation to wear spring color and florals, if you'd like.
