Riverbanks Zoo & Garden
Riverbanks Zoo & Gardens is at the top of the list when it comes to things to do in Columbia. The 170-acre zoo, aquarium, and botanical gardens sits along the Saluda River just minutes from downtown Columbia. Lila grew up going to Zoo Camp here in the summers, and still jumps at the chance to go whenever she can. The zoo is home to over 3,000 animals including penguins, sea lions, grizzly bears, koalas, giraffes, and gorillas.
Soda City Market
If you're in town on Saturday morning, make sure to plan to go to Soda City! Soda City is a weekly farmers market held each Saturday from 8am - 1pm on Main Street in downtown Columbia. Here you'll find over 150 vendors, local artists, a wide variety of food trucks, live music, and LOTS of dogs. It is truly a local favorite!
Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park
The Riverwalk is easily accessed from downtown and provides a easy, paved, easy-walking trail along the river. The park was originally designed around the world's first electric textile mill, which still stands.
Congaree National Park
Did you know there is a National Park in Columbia? If you're looking to cross another National Park off of your list, you can head on over to Congaree. The park is just half an hour from the venue and offers free admission.
