Will's parents live in Tucson part-time, and we've been visiting them for the holidays since 2022. It quickly became one of our happy places. Who doesn't love a sunny hike in the foothills on Christmas morning? Or a half-round where the altitude makes you feel like a golf god?
We met on a dating app, Hinge, while in COVID lockdown. In other words, we found love in a hopeless place. ♫ The time was November 2020, and the pandemic put a damper on traditional dating formats. Luckily, we both went digital. Will stumbled across my Hinge profile and took the bait on my admission of being a film snob, though he claims it was a photo of me in my friend's wedding that really sealed the deal. Our first date was a chilly walk around Lake Harriet where we bonded over a mutual love for John Carpenter's The Thing. Some weeks later, I learned film snobbery paid off when Will casually said, "I deleted the app after our first date." Also, I should mention some of you know Will as Billy. He introduced himself to me as Will, so imagine my surprise upon meeting his friends and hearing, "Wait, who is Will? You mean Billy?" Jump forward to August of 2022, when we bought a home together and adopted the sweetest dog, Vanna, from the Animal Humane Society. Did I put the down payment on the dog without consulting Will? Maybe. But she won him over in a matter of moments. In April 2025, we joined Will's parents on a trip to Kauai, Hawaii where Will proposed. After some exploring, he pulled off the road and toward a public beach tucked around a bend. He asked me to marry him as the sun set, and the rest, as they say, is history.
We don't have a registry; your presence is the real gift! With love, Will & Laura
