Our first date was at the Tip Tap Room in Beacon Hill. What we thought would be a quick meet-and-greet over a couple of drinks turned into a 5-hour endless conversation where we debated and discussed everything from our love of a free-market economy to who had the best pizza in Boston, and which Pac 12 fanbase was the most annoying. Needless to say, both of us could feel our immense chemistry and recognized that most importantly we had similar values, pizza taste (always Santarpio's), and views on the Pac 12 (looking at you Oregon). In a move that would appall any dating expert, we couldn’t stay away from each other and immediately met up two days later. This time, Will invited Kenzie out on Saturday to join him and his guy friends at Beacon Hill Pub to celebrate his beloved BC Eagles’ win. Kenzie flourished, impressing Will and his friends that she could hang comfortably as the only girl, that she knew enough about college football to be dangerous (thanks Rick, Jack, and Brady), and that she was willing to dance on the make-shift dancefloor at BHP. The next morning, in another failure to “play-it-cool,” Kenzie asked Will if he wanted to spend Sunday hanging out in her neighborhood, the North End. We split an Italian sub and spent the day walking around Boston sharing stories and opinions while growing closer together. Will impressed Kenzie by quickly picking up the Carlson family card game, Cribbage. We share this story about our first weekend “together” because it’s a great microcosm of our relationship. We’ve now been inseparable for two years, neither of us ever missing an opportunity to be together, walk around the city, spend time with each other’s friends and family, eat our favorite foods, and watch our favorite sports teams. Through a global pandemic, two Masters programs, and a couple of terrible IU/BC Basketball seasons we’ve never stopped wanting to be together and that’s why we have decided to spend the rest of our life with each other.
