I And Love And You

It all started with a (minor) disagreement over an Avett Brothers lyric. August 2019 - the Disciples Divinity House. Kelley had lived there for a year and Will had just moved in to begin his M.Div at Vanderbilt. Erin Perry told Kelley that a new bearded guy was coming to town (not Santa) and Kelley knew she was in trouble. Anyway, at the house's opening retreat, we began with a hearty round of intros with the old "howdy, handshake, hug." For the uninitiated, this is a way you introduce one another with options for how to greet. Clearly, Kelley went for the hug. And it went something like, Kelley: "So I hear you like the Avett Brothers. What do you think about their new single 'High Steppin'?" Will: "I think it's kind of silly." Kelley: "What?! What about Seth's monologue? 'You can only live one day at at time, only drive one hot rod at a time, only think one thought at a time...' It's gold." Will: "Hmm." That could've been the end of it, but ~it was only the beginning~ After attending several concerts around Nashville, "accidentally on purpose" running into one another at the house, late nights watching movies... it all came together December 13th, 2019 at Eric Carle's exhibit at the Frist Art Museum. First came love, then came a pandemic, then came a whole lotta other things that came our way... but we grew together, with deep conversations, laughs, community, and music.
