How we met

4/4/2019

It's a complete miracle that we ever even met. We met at Grace College (which neither of us attend). We were both visiting friends for the weekend who attended school there and it just so happened that our friends were friends. Over the course of the weekend spent at Grace we hung out as a group a lot. We played volleyball, went to panda express, watched the sunset over the lake, and attended church as a group. We continued to stay in touch over the weeks to come and the rest is history. Later we found out that both of us considered canceling our visits due to the craziness of life that had arisen for both of us. We are both very grateful that we went to Grace that weekend and we wouldn't change a thing about it! Well... Living closer to each other would be nice, but it's a minor detail.

The Proposal

6/12/2020

Our proposal was so us and so perfect! Will had been planning a double date with his cousin and his girlfriend for a week and a half (which is more planning than I had ever seen Will do so I was a little suspicious). The plan was for me to drive up after work on that Friday and go to dinner when I got there around seven. After work that day I came home, showered, and got ready to leave. As I was leaving my mom seemed very concerned that I had not yet done my hair (which again seemed odd), but I reassured her I would do it when I got to Ohio. By the time I got to Ohio I was starving! I was so ready for dinner, so I quickly finished getting ready and we were on our way. As we were driving Will exclaimed, "Oh no they are running late! Let's take a walk through this park right here!". I'm thinking "How late are they running? it's a 7:30 dinner date. Oh well." We had been walking for a little bit when Will needed to "tie his show" as he knelt down I saw the square box in his pocket, but I didn't say anything. We walked farther into the park talking, laughing, and enjoying the warm weather outside! As we were walking we spotted a deer close to the path. I was so distracted by the deer I never once noticed the photographers hidden in the tall grass ready to take photos of the engagement. We walked a little further until we reached a spot on the path that the trees had grown together to make an arch over the path. The next thing I knew Will was in front of me on one knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him as his wife! Of course I said yes! At this point my grumpiness about being hungry faded away and everything was perfect in that moment. We continued to take engagement photos for a while before heading to dinner. Which it turns out finding an open sit-down restaurant during a pandemic at 9pm can be a little difficult, but we still had a great dinner and wonderful night!! I wouldn't change a thing about it.
