Great place for coffee, pastries, and a bite to eat. French inspired food. Also the location of the Welcome Dinner. This place can be quite popular so we reccomend arriving early in the morning to avoid long lines. Totally worth any wait!
Restaurant with a great view of the ocean and surrounding mountains. Great spot for a full meal, snack, or just a drink. Sit on the outdoor patio for the best views. Usually less crowded than Big Sur Bakery and Nepenthe. You do not have to be a guest at Ventana to dine here.
Perhaps the most well-known and frequented establishment in Big Sur. Steeped in the history of Big Sur with lovely Redwood interiors overlooking a spectacular view of the mountains meeting the ocean, this restaurant also serves delicious food and drink. One big drawback: this place is frequently overrun with tourists and the wait can be long. If you want to come for a cocktail and enjoy the views, you do not have to wait in line. Ventana Sur House, where waits are usually much less, offers comparable views and food but without the historical feel.
A nonchalant place to catch a solid meal and/or drink. Wait times are usually low and seating available, which are not to be overlooked as Big Sur can become quite crowded in the summer months. A great alternative to the Big Sur Bakery if the lines are long and you need to get your coffee fix.
