We met the way all modern fairytales begin, on Tinder, during a New York City summer when we were both summer associates at law firms. Somehow, amidst the chaos of endless summer events, the Manhattan humidity, and new jobs, we found each other. Our first date was supposed to be at The Dead Rabbit, a downtown pub in the Financial District. But in true New York fashion, it was packed. So we wandered the streets until we stumbled into a quiet restaurant with a bank vault for a front door, and somehow, that felt exactly right. We talked, we laughed, we drank Mojitos and we didn’t want the night to end. That weekend, we met up again for bagels and a walk around Battery Park, and our third date was a true test of patience: Angie was grading law review applications, while Will hung out loyally with her in a nearby café. Only two weeks in, Will brought Angie to meet his brother, sister-in-law, and nephew. We both knew, this was serious. We had found our person. A summer of fun and new beginnings turned into a year of long distance while Angie finished law school in California and Will remained in the City, though taking quite a few redeyes to come see her as much as he could. Three years, two legal careers, countless deadlines, and many weekend adventures later, Will proposed in Miami, with the ocean as our backdrop and a beautiful floral scene set up on the beach. We were headed out to dinner, but he asked for a walk by the water first and that’s where he got down on one knee, in the city Angie grew up in and has always loved and that Will has fallen in love with. And we took our engagement photos right there, toes in the sand, hearts full. We work a lot, but when we’re not lawyering, we’re at Coney Island (Will eating as many hot dogs as he can and Angie beating him at basketball), unwinding at cigar bars with our friends while listening to Sinatra, finding new Korean BBQ spots to try, traveling to visit our families all over the country and snuggling up at home with our two precious cats, Johnny and Jackie (who definitely run the house). This life we’re building is full of laughter, love, and a shared dream of growing old together. We can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you.
