Amanda and Will lived 25 yards from each other in Provo, Utah. One day, Amanda saw Will with a blue wrist band that said "Festinord," which was an event he attended in Sweden that summer. Amanda served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden, so she knew all about Festinord. She pulled Will aside and they struck up a conversation about her beloved mission country. Neither thought much of that first conversation, but this was just the beginning...
In September of 2017, Amanda and Will were paired together to plan activities in their church group. They started crushing on each other big time, but Will waited a few months before asking Amanda out. For their first date, they went to Salt Lake City for a very homegrown production of "A Christmas Carol." Much to Will's surprise, about half of his massive extended family also happened to be there (including his parents), so it wasn't a typical first date by any stretch of the imagination. Thankfully, Amanda wasn't phased, and despite Will stressing out the whole time, he managed to treat her like a princess. Just like that, their romance begun!
After dating exclusively for a few months, Will graduated and accepted a job in Texas. They decided to keep the romance alive, and Amanda joined Will on a 20-hour road trip to Dallas. They eventually made it to the lone star state in one piece — and even more in love than when they started! Unfortunely, Amanda had to go back to work and school, so with great sadness, she hopped on a plane and left Will in the hot, dusty dust. With frequent tips to see each other, and with daily FaceTime calls, they managed to stay close and very much in love.
For various reasons, Will and Amanda broke up in late August. Did you see that coming? We didn't, either. But like they say, sometimes you don't realize what you have until it's gone — and that's exactly what happened for Will and Amanda. Just a few weeks after their big break up, they were back in each other's arms and ready to keep dating. Score!
Amanda and Will had talked for a few months about marriage. Should we? Could we? Would we? Eventually, it became clear that the answer to all of these questions was a resounding "yes!" When Will went to Utah for Thanksgiving, they went ring shopping together. Will lied profusely and told her that her favorite ring couldn't be delivered for another month. Little did she know, he had purchased the ring like a sneaky devil and hid it in his jacket. So when Amanda least expected it, Will snuck her off to a tranquil place and popped the question. Again, the answer was a resounding "yes!"
With Amanda finishing school in December 2018, they decided that the best time to start their lives together would be, well, now! After seven months of long-distance FaceTime calls, they're quite eager to live in the same state again, so January seemed like the perfect time to seal the deal. It's a fast turnaround, but Will and Amanda couldn't be more pleased with their unique journey of love. Thank you for your continual love and support. We feel so blessed to have wonderful friends and family in our lives, and we can't wait to celebrate with you!
