In the summer of 2018, Luke and I were both serving with two separate ministries called "Ignite". He was in Raleigh, North Carolina, and I was in Birmingham, Alabama. Raleigh's Ignite hosted a training weekend called "Wildfires", and Birmingham's Ignite came to be a part! My friends, leaders, and I drove up to a farm house / wedding venue in North Carolina for a weekend campout and retreat. I was excited to camp and be a part of the event, but I was not expecting to meet my future husband. According to Luke, he noticed me right when I got out of the car (sweaty and gross from a summer road trip!) , but I noticed him during the first worship session, when he was singing right under a sign that had "Mark 10:9" written on it, which is "What God has joined together, let no man separate." Of course I thought he was the cutest worship leader ever, so I made a decision not to speak to him so I wouldn't get my feelings hurt (if someone is THAT cute and talented, they can't be kind and husband material too, right?!). That didn't last long, because the next night, we had a 3 hour conversation around a bonfire and s'mores. Anyone who knows Luke, also knows how wrong I was about my assumptions! He turned out to be the sweetest and most caring man I've ever met. After five months of long distance talking, praying, and fasting for God's wisdom on our next steps, we decided to take a leap of faith and date long distance. A year after we started dating, Luke proposed near his hometown in Fredericksburg, VA. He is the answer to so many of my prayers, and God has definitely shown himself faithful and good throughout our entire relationship so far.
