The Kal-Haven Trail is a lovely multipurpose rail trail stretching along the former route of the Kalamazoo and South Haven Railroad, stretching for 33.5 miles between South Haven and Kalamazoo. The trail, which is officially known as Kal-Haven Trail Sesquicentennial State Park, traverses past lovely small towns, farmland areas, and forests, embarking at South Haven's 67th Street and Baseline Road. Major deer fly populations call the trail area home at areas such as the city of Gobles. Hikers and cyclists use the route throughout the summer months, with horseback riders permitted on an 1 1-mile section of the trail.

Also known as South Pier Head Light, this historic structure is a must-see in South Haven. It was built in 1872 and is still operational today. It’s located at the mouth of the Black River and it reaches 37 feet high. It has one of only four boardwalks built to connect the lighthouse to the shore that’s still standing.
The nautical history of South Haven has been carefully preserved and displayed for all to investigate at the Michigan Maritime Museum. It’s located right on the waterfront, and in-depth exhibits walk you through the exciting past of the Great Lakes.
Wineries dot the landscape all throughout Southwest Michigan, but if you want to stay close to South Haven there are four unique vineyards close to each other. Spending a day exploring these family-owned wine producers will not only give you an idea of the excellent wines produced in this area, but also a chance to enjoy the beautiful farmland in between.

Overhiser Orchards has been operated by the same farming family for more than five generations, dating back over a century and a half to 183. The delightful farm offers you-pick experiences for families to pick sweet and sour cherries, plums, apples, peaches, and pears throughout the harvest season directly from its orchard lands. Farm-fresh products for sale throughout the year include homemade doughnuts and delicious fresh apple cider.
