Colby and Korissa met at Lancaster Bible College while serving as Resident Assistants. Both of them came into the school year with every intention to avoid getting into a relationship. It was Colby’s senior year and he planned to simply finish school and move back to Maine. Korissa was starting her Junior year and wanted to spend her time enjoying school and taking any opportunities that came her way. However, as they became friends during RA training, they began to see something in each other they could not ignore. During the first few months of knowing each other, they focused on growing as friends. In October of 2017 Korissa took a trip to Spain with LBC’s chorale. During those two weeks, the couple decided they would have no contact so Korissa could focus on the trip and they both intentionally prayed for God’s leading. When Korissa returned they discussed the future and decided to make their relationship official on October 24th, 2017.
The story of Colby’s proposal began in the month of May 2018 when Colby went on a trip to Israel with LBC. While he was there, he found a beautiful ring and brought it home and began to plan how he would pop the question. Korissa spent the summer in Maine with his family and expected the proposal to come near the end of July or the beginning of August. However, Colby was planning the surprise much earlier. Over the weekend of June 15th-17th two of their good friends, Tony and Mary Beth Villafane came up to Maine for their summer vacation. Colby worked it out with them for both couples to make a trip to Acadia National park on the 16th. They drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain and got out to explore and see the view. While they walked around, the couples separated and Colby started talking about their future plans. Unbeknownst to Korissa, Colby had enlisted Tony and Mary Beth as videographer and photographer to capture the special moment. He then got down on one knee and told Korissa he didn’t want to live life without her and that he wanted her to be his wife. Korissa said yes through tears of joy and, as they say, the rest is history!
