We met at a mutual friend's going away party. He asked me out for a drink the following weekend. He made me laugh, and I almost beat him at pool. We've been best friends ever since.

I was visiting Spencer in Highland Falls, NY the last weekend in August. He planned for us to start the day by taking a tour of the beautiful Stonecrop Gardens. We aren't "garden people" so I thought something was up but didn't see the ring box he was hiding in his back pocket. When we got to the whisteria pavilion, he surprised me by getting down on one knee and asking me if I would put up with him for a little while longer. I immediately said yes.
