The couple first met at their current church. Missy did in fact introduce herself first. It was strictly her asking him if he knew a mutual friend they had. Upon getting confirmation, he told her she must be "cool people" if she knew this person. They continued to speak at church from this point forward. They engaged in conversation via email and social media only. They wanted to be more than friends after multiple encounters but because it wasn't God's timing they decided to WAIT. Vinel and Missy wanted to make sure the foundation was secure and that they were healed from any and all wounds. During the time of waiting, they did not communicate. Fast forward to 2018, after a corporate fast, Vinel asked Missy on a date Valentine's Day to the gym. This was their moment of peace, clarity, and sureness that God was orchestrating this. The rest is history. Vinel and Missy dated with a purpose and chased God together.

On her mother's birthday...life changed! Earlier that day Vinel brought roses to her job and a pop-socket she had been crying about. He even bought a new shirt to wear for their "double date". Upon getting ready the couple cancelled 20 minutes prior to dinner. Since Missy was all dolled up in makeup, Vinel insisted they still go to dinner. Dinner was normal, usual conversation, and Missy thought that was it. Silly her, Vinel had the whole day planned out. He proposed, with a lovely red velvet cheesecake, getting on one knee, and the entire firebird's team in on the proposal. Their story is far from perfect, but It does definitely remind them of God's faithfulness and what it truly means to wait and to be obedient.
