How We Met

Our love of sports brought us together and keeps us going strong

It was a beautiful, winter, football Sunday - November 16th, 2014. Chiefs fan, Whitney and her Bronco-loving roommate at the time, Rachel, decided to hit up the neighborhood sports bar, Stoney's, to watch their teams. Surrounded by other great friends, it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday. Meanwhile, across the room, 49er fan Tory was sittin' all pretty with his group of Packer friends. At some point (and Whitney remembers it as this), the crowds parted, a light shone down, and she spotted him. Immediately she turns to her 2 girlfriends, Rachel and Genevieve saying "Wow, that guy over there is very cute." Not having heard Whitney talk this way before, her friends sprung into action to make this 'connection' a reality. They first circled his table, you know, to see if he had a ring on his finger. Little success to report back as Tory was hiding his hands in an arm-folded posture. The next move was to talk to his friends and 'get the scoop' as soon as Tory left the table to use the restroom. These girls were adamant! Tory remembers it as this - he returns from the restroom to find 2 pretty blondes talking to his married friend, Justin, obviously thinking they were there to promote some kind of adult beverage to these rambunctious beer drinkers. As soon as he sat down, they pounced with the opportunity to talk about Whitney and show pictures, "Look this is her as a sexy kitty for Halloween." That must have done the trick. He tells them he'll come over and say hello. Nearly an hour goes by with no table talk so Whitney is thinking he's not interested and it's time to leave. The bill is paid and they prepare to go, when Genevieve comes back to the table with a raffle ticket. People, it has Tory's name and number on it to give to Whitney! He's interested. With that, Whitney decides, enough of this junior high back and forth, she's going to go talk to him. The conversation flowed all too easily, numbers were exchanged and there you have it. The rest is history, folks!
