A Tale of Two Coworkers

In the fall of 2016, Schuyler moved to Wheatfield, Indiana for a teaching job at White's Residential. Whitney, who also worked for White's at that time, remembers seeing Schuyler for the first time in the cafeteria and taking notice of him. Schuyler does not remember this event, but what he does remember is coworkers talking to him about Whitney and how they would make a good couple. It would take a few months of teasing from a couple of wise coworkers for them to begin talking. After texting back and forth daily for over a month, Schuyler offered to teach Whitney to drive a stick shift in his grandpa's old pickup truck, as he did not trust her to learn in his beloved Mustang. Whitney did not learn to drive a stick that day, but what she did learn was that Schuyler was sweet, funny, and easygoing and that she wanted to get to know him better. At the end of the unsuccessful lesson, Schuyler asked her if she wanted to come and, "Meet my cat," which of course, she did. Kitty Kitty was suspicious of Whitney at first and gave Schuyler the cold shoulder whenever Whitney was around. Despite the rejection by his cat, Schuyler was interested. Over the next few weeks, Schuyler began leaving a series of items on Whitney's car at work: an antique fork, a nice note, a Reese's, and finally, after many threats that Whitney did not quite believe until it happened, a coyote skull. Although Kitty Kitty was at first highly suspicious of the new intruder, she soon offered her approval of the matter, and Schuyler and Whitney began dating in May of 2017. Over two years later, or "finally," as some would say, Schuyler asked Whitney to marry him on December 23, 2019.
