When we first met

2014

"She was tall, petite, tattooed, pregnant, and working in the commercial vehicle vetting station where old, dirty truckers would constantly hit on her. She had a no bullshit attitude, she bluntly and cleverly turned down all their attempts. I thought what a bad ass girl, shes probably aggressive, but shes cute, and its kinda sexy." -Rob "I was first attracted to his eyes, and I could tell by the way he looked at me something was there. I was very interested in getting to know him, but I didn't ever tell him that. It wasn't until he came back from the academy, 4 months later, that we actually spoke to each other. We saw each other in passing or where I was working at pretty frequently and just had small talk. I wanted to talk to him on a more personal level but was too shy to ever actually ask him. It didn't take too long before he asked me for my snapchat name, and then for him to make a clever excuse to get my number. It didn't take long after that before we started seeing each other. Love at first sight." -Whitney

Our Engagement - Rob

"These last 2 and a half years have been amazing, they haven't always been easy. Although I cant recall exactly when, it was one of the rough times I realized she was the one for me. I remember a few times where I would think: we just don't see eye to eye on anything. Both of us are very stubborn people (her more so than me). She is extremely set in her ways, which I suppose you could say I am too at times. It was during our first "big" fight. I was thinking that same thing, we just don't see eye to eye on anything, then it clicked. The family Whitney has given me, both her and Josiah is irreplaceable and something I am certain I do not and can not live without. Whitney is an amazing, loving person. Who would do anything for the people she cares about. Her heart is warm, kind, open, and loving. I have a connection with her unlike anyone else, a bond that draws me closer. Josiah was 3 months old when I came into his life, I have always felt a connection with him. I sometimes look at the things he does and think how he must have some how have gotten my genes. These are just a few of the things that make us family, this is a small percentage of the reasons why I know she and him are the family I love to have. As for the engagement, I thought about it for a while. I was desperately searching for a new job, then suddenly I was lucky enough to get a great job offer which required me to move. Without a bit of hesitation she jumped on board and that's when I knew now was the time. I went to buy a new truck and to get a ring. The latter she was unaware of. As I was buying the ring I was planning the how. Which wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, finally I decided. I wanted to do it at a time that meant the most to me. A family outing, just like we had done many, many times before. These are always my happiest times. That Friday I suggested we go to the food truck festival, where I would ask her to marry me."

Our Engagement - Whitney

"Rob and I had talked a lot about our future. It was like we knew very early that we were on the same page, but it felt so surreal. I had such strong feelings for him so early that I began doubting what I was feeling. It's not very often you think to yourself "he's the one" after a couple dates.. It wasn't very long after that before we shared the words I love you. When we began talking about what we would do when I had to transfer and if he got a different job it really started sinking in for me that I didn't want to go anywhere without him by my side. Before Rob proposed to me, we had been talking a lot about our upcoming move, and how we would eventually want to get married. I had no idea he was going to propose when he did, and I was so grateful and excited for the surprise. I was even more surprised that he was able to keep it a secret from me - he loves to drop hints but didn't for this. I feel like our time together has gone by so fast! This journey together has been so much fun, and I would've never dreamed I'd be so lucky to have Rob come into mine and Josiah's lives. He has been such an amazing father, and I am forever grateful for everything he has done for us."
