Martin and Whitney first met while attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He was roommates with Tony (groomsman!), who was friends with Whitney's roommate, Hilary (bridesmaid!). So they, of course, would all hang out at the Aspen pool, party at Pinch Penny Pub, and dance their lives away at Copper Dragon! Whitney and Martin were also known for their legendary beer pong skills... going undefeated and breaking many longstanding SIUC beer pong records as teammates... Martin graduated in 2011, moved back to Chicago to attend grad school, and Whitney continued to finish up school at SIUC. After college, Whitney invited Martin down to St. Louis to celebrate Mardi Gras in 2014, and they had so much fun together! They both traveled back and forth from STL to CHI to see each other for several months, until Martin decided to start looking for a job in St. Louis! After living together for 5 years in St. Louis, traveling the world, buying a house, and celebrating the occasional Dallas Cowboys victory (lol), Martin FINALLY decided to ask Whitney to marry him!
