We first met in 2014 when Whitney was volunteering out at Camp Aldersgate for Kota Camp (a partnership between Camp and the Junior League of Little Rock) and Katie was working as a Program Coordinator. When Whitney met Katie, she knew that she needed to know more about her. Whitney felt an immediate connection to Katie and knew that this soul was meant to be in her life! Katie was so cool and confident and funny. Who wouldn't want to be her friend? But Whitney wasn't sure that Katie wanted to be her friend! After a few years of being around one another only at Kota Camp sessions (4 times a year), Whitney took a chance and asked Katie if she wanted to have a craft night where they could work on headdresses for the Camp Tribe Chiefs. Katie said yes (much to Whitney's surprise). We scheduled a night to hang out. Whitney bought the craft supplies and wine. Katie ordered the pizza. After hours of talking, laughing, glittering and hot gluing, our friendship was forged. It would be another year or so (and another craft night) before we both realized that the spark and connection we both felt was mutual.
