It all started with two hearts 1,133 miles away in the midst of a pandemic. As jobs broke down and quarantine began, Whitney became aimless. She journeyed up to Yakima, WA to help with the family business. Workers were few and pressures were high. This called for all hands on deck. As the work began Jonathan and Whitney's paths converged. Stary eyed he began to pursue her. Whitney having programmed herself to be cautious in matters of the heart, eased into the idea of dating. Every encounter drew her in. His love and inspiring walk with Christ, his strong character, and his charm romanced her. They became official on May 30th, 2020. Through long phone calls and lots of park dates, true love was found. With COVID at large it would be months before the had the first typical restaurant date. God had done the unthinkable and brought to hearts together at the most unlikely time.
Jonathan was preparing to propose to Whitney. He spent a whole week convincing her that he wasn’t going to make it down for their first Valentine’s Day. When the day came to unleash the surprise, a violent snowstorm enveloped Seattle. Jonathan boarded his flight and sat for 6 hours on the tarmac to go nowhere. After a day of canceled flights, he had one last chance to get to San Diego and Whitney for Valentines. The weather report called for ice and snow. He prayed that the temperature would rise and that not one flake would hit the ground until 6am. Miraculously, that’s exactly what happened. He finally arrived in San Diego and watched from his SUV as his beautiful fiancée to be unknowingly walked by. He couldn’t resist, he had to cat call her. So he hollered, “Dang baby! Let me talk to you for a minute!” Only to find that she didn’t give any acknowledgment. Now it was on, this had become a quest. He began to follow her in his car until she finally turned and saw, to her amazement, him. They spent the day together in a lovely bliss. When they arrived at the marina, Whitney was unsure of what Jonathan had planned, much less of what he planned to ask. Soon after the captain appeared and before she knew it, Whitney was underway on a private sailing excursion with her love. On the way back into the harbor, Jonathan asked the captain to turn into the sunset. He looked into Whitney’s eyes and said that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He then preceded to precariously balance himself on one knee and open the ring box that contained, to her surprise, a ring, different from the one they had been designing together. He looked at her with all the love in his heart and said, “Whitney Ariah Odman, will you marry me?” Stunned at first, she reached for the ring, and then, with tears in her eyes exclaimed, yes!! The rest is the best history on earth.
