John and Whitney met at Ropewalk Tavern in Federal Hill in Baltimore Maryland on a cold winter night in December of 2014. Upon them speaking to each other, it became very apparent that there was a high level of mutual interests. John appreciated the fact that Whitney was so intelligent and passionate about her love for science and her job, while Whitney was impressed with John's cybersecurity projects and his dedication to keeping the nation safe. After going home for Christmas, where both excitedly explained to their respective families that they had finally found someone interesting, attractive, and worthwhile, the relationship bloomed. After that, there were many adventures that took place: TV show debuts, graduations, several moves between the two of them, house projects at John's various properties, and many trips across the country. Whitney and John so look forward to continuing the story together as a married couple!
It was probably the hottest day in August, with a heat index of 115. John was playing volleyball that night after just having gotten back from a work trip, while Whitney had graduate school that night. John asked Whitney if she wanted to hang out after class, to which Whitney readily agreed. John texted Whitney to say he was "on the way" to her house, however, he was just taking forever to get there. In the meantime, Whitney kept getting ETA texts from him -- in hindsight, that was somewhat unusual for John to do. Once John pulled up out front of Whitney's house, it was immediately apparent why he had taken so long: he had gotten Whitney cupcakes from CupLove in Canton. Once they got to John's house, John got a mysterious phone call, making him dart upstairs to his bedroom, leaving Whitney scratching her head. Then, after the call was done, John told Whitney about a photo contest for CupLove and insisted that she pose with a cupcake. Whitney did not take him very seriously and began to goofily take ridiculous photos with her cupcake. Finally, John managed to snap one "decent" picture of Whitney. Whitney opened up the decorative paper on the outside of the cupcake, delicate red tissue paper, only to find the most gorgeous ring inside. John asked Whitney to marry him. Once Whitney was able to speak she said yes and the rest was history!! It was the perfect proposal!
