Jerrod and I went to high school together. Let me disappoint you all now and inform you that this is not a romantic comedy. It’s just a comedy. We were not high school sweethearts. We’re both too shy for that. We just liked each other in silence from a distance as normal people do. We had both settled into jobs and partners that weren’t right for us. We talk frequently about how we could’ve been spared of some of that suffering if we had just talked to each other. We did cross paths on dating apps, but every time we matched I waited, and waited, and waited for a message to pop up but Jerrrod was too scared to make the first move. So years later after another one of my break ups Jerrod sent me a friend request. After accepting I thought about it for a few days and I sent him the first message. He responded with “We haven’t talked in forever I’m so glad you messaged me” and that really tells you how sweet of a guy he is. He had me falling from the first reply, and the next, and the next, and the next. The next messages included “I can’t believe someone hasn’t snatched you up, you're gorgeous” and “Have you seen yourself??? I’m not just talkin lol certified smoke show”. So any of our friends or family looking for dating advice that want to come off cool and uninterested at first do not call Jerrod. But if you want dating advice on how to make a woman fall completely in love with you your first call has to be Jerrod. In the next messages we caught up on each other's lives. I had moved up to Columbus and was just getting settled in my new apartment. We had called a few times and after hearing his sweet voice on the phone I was ready for a date. I noticed Jerrod’s birthday was coming up and being the big redneck that he is I wanted to find a gift to make him laugh. We had many conversations about “hippies and their magic rocks”. So of course I had to buy him some crystals. I picked out crystals for strength and courage and pretty pink ones for love. I had those blessed or cursed or whatever and crossed my fingers hoping they would make him stupid enough to keep talking to me. I honestly could’ve skipped having those rocks blessed because Jerrod was in love as soon as I hopped out of the truck. We actually didn’t start dating until September 4th of 2023, but he changed our anniversary date to that first date on his birthday because he says that’s when he knew he was in love. After our first date we’ve been together every day since. I tried everything to move him up to the big city with me, but you can’t take a hillbilly out of the hills so I moved back down. A lot has changed since we met. We’ve both changed jobs a time or two and we moved. We’ve been extremely blessed to have the opportunity to fix up our forever home together. As some of you know I came with 20 pounds (probably actually 28 pounds) of extra baggage in the relationship. My sweet dachshund Dixie hates men (as she should), so I was nervous how her and Jerrod would get along. Let me tell you those two are the absolute best of friends. When he’s working on vehicles she’s out there with her vest, in the passenger seat on all his trips, and they cuddle in his recliner together. Since Dixie is so wonderful we decided we needed to add another tiny member to the family. What a crazy idea that was. Now we have a mini dachshund that’s mostly part velociraptor, but we couldn’t be happier with our little family and our beautiful old house. We’re so looking forward to all of the adventures ahead! Thank you for taking the time to read a little about us! I hope that gave you a small glimpse into us and the love we share. Jerrod and I wouldn’t be who we are without all of you, so we hope you’ll join us in September to celebrate this new chapter!
