Whitney and I met in 2017. We shared the same peer mentor and leadership class (PALs) where we would go and visit challenged kids around the community. To become one of these peer mentors they put you through a “camp” where you learn the skills needed to work with the kids. This would be where we spent time together for the first time. We were assigned the task of delivering pizza to the hundreds of people present for this camp. I was chosen for having a truck and Whitney came along as my helper. We drove together to none other than Little Caesar’s pizza. Upon arriving it was clear this was not going to be a small task, but Whitney opted to watch from the car. We both laughed as me and the teenager working the counter loaded hundreds of pizzas into the truck bed. This became a core memory as we got to know each other better throughout the years. We hung out all throughout high school and made some great memories. One of them was going to Braum's and ordering extra extra extra sprinkles on her ice cream while she hid from the employees. I like to think I helped bring her out of her shell. We went to high school prom together and the photo still floats around the family group chat from time to time. Soon afterwards this time in our lives ended and we went our separate ways at different colleges—Whitney went to the University of Texas and I went to the University of Arkansas. Years went by and we stayed in touch from time to time. Our Junior year of college my friends and I visited Austin, Texas and I texted Whitney at 10 pm to see if she wanted to meet us out. After much hesitation she dragged her roommate Emerson out of bed and met us at Green Light Social. This night is still one we remember well. She got to meet a number of my friends that day and we all had a great time together. Senior year of college she came to visit me at Arkansas when Texas football played at Arkansas (we won by the way) and we started talking on the phone often. The following spring she came to visit me again for our fraternity row event. We later moved back to Dallas after college graduation and started dating shortly after that. We made many memories together including visiting the small venues of Gun Barrel City TX. Whitney quickly became apart of the family and became the sister my sister never had. All jokes aside I realized I could not live without her. The more time we spent together I knew where it would end up. Now here I am writing the story for the wedding website. I proposed to Whitney in Jamaica while on a vacation with her family. She is a big planner so despite what you might think I caught her by surprise. As we are now building a house together I imagine where we might be years down the road and look forward to the time we will spend together. Whitney, I love you. We look forward to seeing everyone at the wedding and celebrating our commitment to one another. Meet us in California!
