Love can really come in and sweep you off your feet. In this story, the person who was swept away was the one knocking. You never know when true love can just be waiting at your front door. When I first met Whitley, all I could think of was " Wonder Woman." She was wearing Wonder Woman pajamas that day she answered the door. Really though, when I first met her, I was wonder struck. I had no idea this girl was about to become my best friend. When I first met Andres it was to braid his hair for a date out with his mom. I was blown away by the fact he was taking him mother out on a date. The sweetness and rarity of that was so amazing to me. Also, this guys hair was gorgeous and I couldn't wait to play with it. We both can say we had no idea what we were both in for.
Over the span of 4 years, Andres and I become more then friends. Between the constant hangouts with my kids and sister. To the random walks at Reid Park with my kids, we fell in love. Not only did we fall in love, we realized we had be in love the entire time. Not knowing why we were so drawn to one another. Not understanding why we never got tired of being around each other. We weren't just friends in love, we were soulmates. You know certain things when you meet the one. We were destined from beyond the stars for the path we walk together. Plenty of folks do not believe in fate or astrology, however we do. The stars were aligned just for our love and future.
In the mist of the crazy Covid summer of 2020, our anniversary was going up. Andres and I had been talking about marriage for a long time. I always joked about me being the one to do it. Woman can do anything men can do right? I am in love with this man so why can't I propose? Plus, Andres is stubborn and doesn't think he's worthy of being a "husband". I have so many reason why I want to change that. So I do. In front of his loved ones, I asked him the big question. With tears in my eyes and a shaky video to capture the moment, he said "Yes!"
