We met on August 16, 2018, just a typical day working at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Jordan had been tasked with the undertaking of training the "new guy", and was disappointed, as her cousin was having a baby that exact day in the same hospital and she was going to try to sneak away for a bit! Jordan agreed to precept the newest team member, when Mike entered the room and introduced himself. Mike had just graduated with a Biology degree from Ramapo College and was taking a year off to save money before entering Physician's Assistant school. Although Mike and Jordan did not start dating immediately, the friendship was instant. After a few months of spending time as friends, Mike asked Jordan on an official date. Our first date was untraditional but memorable, spent at the All Season's Diner with plenty of pancakes and pork roll. It wasn't for a few months on May 31, 2019 that we had a traditional date of dinner and a movie. Mike was less than excited about Jordan's demand for a midnight showing of the Elton John movie however he was quickly impressed by the Siino's sub sandwiches! Less than a month later, our relationship was truly put to the test. Mike had accepted a position as a PA student in Seton Hall University's program full time, while Jordan had moved back in with her parents in Virginia to save money through nursing school. Although a tough decision, we knew it was best for us as both individuals and our potential future as a couple. We promised to have frequent visits however unbeknownst to us, a pandemic changed our world even more. On March 8, 2020 we said goodbye not knowing it would be 153 days until we saw each other again. Throughout our long distance time, we would create our own date nights, watching Supermarket Sweep while on FaceTime together and did what we could to pass time before we were reunited. We did everything we could to spend holidays, weekends, warm summer days and cold winter nights together. We went on trips to Connecticut, the Outer Banks, Cape May, the Catskills, Boston, Shenandoah National Park and even slept in a tee-pee in the Blue Ridge Mountains! We chased every lighthouse that we could, including our favorite lighthouse, Strollo's. We lived for our visits to Asbury Park and frequent Rook runs. After three years, in May of 2022, Mike had graduated PA school and Jordan had finished her BSN! Our time apart was coming to an end and the dream we had envisioned all along was finally coming true. After 1,186 days of being 332.5 miles away, we moved in together and started our newest journey as roommates! Since moving in together we have excelled in our professional lives and got into a routine as a couple. The neighbors love living next to Michael Jordan! Jordan began her Master's degree while working full time, and Mike had been working double, secretly saving for a special surprise. The morning of August 26, 2023 was not a typical morning. Jordan had been told that they were meeting Mike's brother for breakfast and then venturing off to LBI for the day. Jordan noticed some strange behaviors from Mike, like dressing in a button down for brunch and running around the house cleaning the bathrooms. Jordan wasn't sure what was happening but she sure wasn't going to say no to a clean bathroom! After arriving to Asbury Park, Mike took Jordan on the beach and proposed where we would frequent during our long distance visits. Mike had strategically placed a message in a bottle on the jetty and instantly Jordan knew this was it! She said yes so quickly, Mike never even got to ask, "Will you marry me?"! Once we got settled in the car, Mike played it cool, asking if we could stop at his parents house before going to LBI. Of course Jordan said yes, but only after we got coffee! To Jordan's surprise, her whole family had come in from out-of-state to celebrate this special day alongside Mike's family who helped coordinate the perfect moment. Mike might say, "I did it my way".
